Exceptional guidance

At Aval Rural Livelihood Empowerment Society (ARLES), we believe that real change begins at the grassroots—with the people who call rural India home. Since our inception in 2016, our journey has been one of deep listening, shared learning, and unwavering commitment to the communities we serve.

The name “Aval,” meaning “mother” in the local Gond language, is not just symbolic—it defines our approach. Like a mother who nurtures and empowers, ARLES works to build the foundations of self-reliance, dignity, and opportunity for rural households. Our mission is not only to alleviate poverty but to create vibrant livelihood ecosystems that are climate-resilient, socially inclusive, and environmentally sustainable.

We have centered our efforts on empowering women and youth, promoting farmer collectives, restoring ecosystems, and ensuring access to education, health, and sanitation—all while embracing the cultural fabric of rural life, including the encouragement of rural sports and indigenous knowledge.

In a world increasingly affected by climate change and economic uncertainty, our work is more important than ever. ARLES stands as a bridge—connecting local wisdom with global sustainability, and compassion with action. Every initiative we undertake is driven by the voices, dreams, and aspirations of the communities we serve.

I am deeply grateful to our dedicated team, community partners, supporters, and well-wishers who walk this path with us. Together, we are not just addressing challenges—we are reimagining rural futures.

With hope and determination,

Bandari Ramesh
